What is ORDP?
ORDP is a CDL driver’s first line of protection against tickets, citations, and points. Professional drivers all over the country have been using the ORDP attorney network to protect them from tickets since 1989. ORDP offers you the most for your money, whether it’s paid CDL attorney fees, bond or bail postings, appeal fees or our great discount program. ORDP is the legal plan that offers both outstanding protection and great truck driver benefits!
What happens after I get a ticket?
After you receive a ticket, the first step is to call us and let us know. We’ll need to get some key information from you including the following:
- Where the ticket was received
- Court information
- Your ticket number
- Why were you issued the ticket
Once we have that information, we’re off and running. ORDP will provide information to you to choose a local CDL attorney to assist with your case. The local attorney will be familiar with the court, judge, prosecutor and law enforcement in the area where your ticket was received. If you choose to retain an attorney listed in the ORDP database, we will share all the key information of your case with that attorney, and provide you with the attorney’s contact information. This process takes approximately 24 to 72 hours. Once you approve of an attorney, your attorney will be in touch with you prior to your case.
When I get a ticket ORDP picks up the whole bill?
Yes, that’s right! At ORDP we don’t cover “just pay a percentage” of your CDL attorney’s fee for covered violations. You need a legal plan that takes care of everything, and that’s what we are here for.
The only thing you’ll be responsible for as a member of ORDP with respect to covered violations are any court costs or fines associated with the outcome of your traffic case. That’s it.
What if I’m being charged with something very serious, like manslaughter?
At ORDP while we sincerely hope you are never involved in a case including manslaughter, we know bad things can happen to good people. Should you be facing charges like vehicular manslaughter, negligent homicide or vehicular homicide charges, you’re covered for that too (see number 15 for more info on exclusions). Give us a call immediately and we’ll get started right away.
So, I don’t pay anything?
Like we said before, the only thing you’ll be responsible for as a member of ORDP, with respect to covered violations is any court costs or fines associated with the outcome of your traffic case. That’s it.
After your case is completed, you’ll receive paperwork from us and your attorney revealing the outcome. While you’re not required to, we recommend you keep the paperwork for your records. Of course, we’ll keep a copy too – just in case.
I’m not a current member, can you still help me with my ticket?
We’ll be happy to help you with your current ticket! In fact, that’s how many of our customers find us. Finding a CDL attorney on your own can be difficult and expensive. We take the guesswork out of it and refer you to an experienced attorney in our network. Before taking your case we first require that you sign up as an ORDP member – just to make it official. On Pre-Existing tickets, we will enroll you in our membership and charge a one-time “Administration Fee” to assist you with finding a CDL attorney from our database who can assist you. For pre-existing tickets, you will pay the attorney fees and costs, as well as court costs any fine assessed. Moving forward, so long as membership dues are maintained you will not ever pay an Administration Fee or attorney fees again for any covered violation. Pretty cool, right?
When you find me the attorney, am I done?
We locate the CDL attorney for you, but the great thing about our CDL legal plan is you actually hire the attorney yourself and we pick up the bill! Once we pass along your CDL attorney’s name and contact information, you’ll need to give them a call and check in. Your attorney will have some questions for you and may need you to fill out some paperwork. We recommend you touch base with your attorney one week prior to the court date to avoid any potential bumps in the road. Don’t forget that we have customer service reps ready to answer any questions or concerns you may have throughout the entire process.
Why do I have to pay court costs and/or fines?
Court costs and fines are determined by the judge at the outcome of your traffic case and are to be paid by you to the court directly. If these occur, they will be clearly outlined to you by your lawyer. While it is your decision whether to pay the amount due, we highly recommend it. The courts are typically very willing to work out a payment arrangement, if one needs to be made.
My spouse isn’t a professional driver – are they still covered for tickets?
As an ORDP member, your membership fees cover both you and your spouse regardless of their driver classification. What could be better than two-for-the-price-of-one membership?
Are my kids, brothers, sisters, mom and dad covered for tickets under my plan, too?
At ORDP, your membership dues solely cover you and your spouse for ticket protection. However, we do offer additional money saving discounts your entire family can use every day. Be sure to read more under How It Works or see below.
In addition to the legal coverage, what else do I get?
As if legal protection wasn’t enough, as an ORDP member, you and your whole family get access to amazing money saving discounts on things you already use every day. In fact, you can save enough money that the plan actually pays for itself! The discounts you’ll have access to are, but not limited to:
- Medical prescriptions through the Sav-Rx Program
- Room rental rates at Choice Hotel Properties
- Room rental rates at Red Roof Inns
- Discounts on Avis Car Rentals
- Discounts on Hertz Car Rentals
- Discounts on National Car Rentals
- Tax and financial services discounts through eTrucker Tax
- Vision and dental insurance discounts through Vital Savings by Aetna®
Who can use the additional discounts?
Your whole family can use the money saving discount program.
Is there a benefit to me for referring other drivers?
Thanks for helping us out! For every driver you refer, that stays with us for a consecutive 3 months, ORDP will give you a one-time payment of $34.50. If you refer 12 drivers a year, that will pay for your membership.
Will a live person always be available to take my call 24/7/365?
Yes! We know that citations are received 24/7, not just during regular business hours. Call us day or night, 365 days a year and our US-based customer service team will be here to assist you. Should a bond need to be posted over the weekend, call us at 1-800-848-3060 and ask to speak to the Bonding Service. We’ll get you taken care of.
What isn’t covered?
Our exclusions include:
- Driving Under the Influence of Drugs or Alcohol
- Driving in Possession of Drugs/Alcohol/Firearms
- Driving Without a Valid Driver’s License
- Eluding Police Officer
- Illegally Leaving the Scene of an Accident
- Past Due Citations
- Radar Detector/Scanner
- Operating a Vehicle While Out of Service
What are the potential benefits of hiring an attorney for a traffic ticket?
- Alternative penalties or reduced fines with the Court
- A dismissal of the ticket
- Prevention or reduction of points on driver’s license
- Avoiding time off work for a court appearance
- Averting an insurance rate increase
Why is ORDP better than asking a friend for a referral?
Friends are great and we value their opinion. The problem, however, is that friends may have conflicting opinions on a good attorney, especially when it comes to CDL knowledge and traffic laws. In addition to connecting you with an attorney in the event of a ticket, ORDP offers a full benefits package for you and your entire family.
Can I contact my attorney directly?
Yes. ORDP provides a platform which connects the motorist with an attorney. ORDP does not provide legal support or any other types of services which would control or interfere with the attorney-client relationship. We recommend that after you hire your attorney, you reach out one week prior to your court date to ensure that they have no additional questions.
